Workplace Safety Trends & Statistics 2021

Earlier this year, Safe Work Australia published the latest statistics and insights from the latest national data on work-related injuries and fatalities.

While some statistics are heading in the right direction (such as a 50% drop in fatalities since 2007), there are still a number of areas that are causing growing areas for concern. Some examples below:

  • The number of serious workplace injury claims has risen 12% the past two years
  • The median compensation for each of these incidents has risen 17%, from $11,500 to $13,500
  • The median time lost for each of these incidents has also risen 14% from 5.8 weeks to 6.6 weeks

Not only do these stats highlight the increased recurrence of serious injuries, it also shows that the severity of these injuries are also growing with the compensation and lost work time also rising by well over 10%.

At SafeWrite, we know that compliance and HSEQ Management is part of the job, but it doesn’t need to be your job! We’ve developed a cloud platform that streamlines these processes for you, giving you confidence that you are not compromising accuracy or safety.
